We've been waiting to let her try bottles for about a month or so to make sure that she's nursing well first. She's definitely been doing great as far as nursing goes, and when Chuck gave her the first bottle on Sunday, she SNARFED it. He could barely pull the bottle away to burp her! Hopefully she continues to nurse and take bottles well! The biggest benefit to her taking bottles once in awhile right now is that someone else can feed her (i.e. Daddy!) and let Mommy sleep more than 3 hours at a time!
Thursday marked the first full month since she was born! Chuck and I were reminiscing about her Birth Day and had a hard time believing that it has already been a month! She is already changing in so many ways. Physically, she still seems like a little peanut, but she's definitely growing, as some of her clothes and pj's are getting much shorter in length! She's outgrown a few of her hats, too! It's difficult to tell since we see her every day, but it seems like her cheeks are fuller and her little hands are also getting bigger. She's awake for much longer periods throughout the day, and is very alert and engaging while awake. She loves having people talk and sing to her, and tolerates having books read to her. I'm sure she'll love books, too, as her attention span lengthens! :) She has her one-month appointment with the doctor next week, so then we'll be able to get some official measurements to compare to her birth stats!
When she woke up Friday morning around 8am, she looked me straight in the eyes and had her first, big, non-gas-related, toothless grin! After eating, she continued to smile a couple more times. Later around lunch, she smiled several times for Chuck as well...talk about melting our hearts!!! Of course, when we pulled out the camera to try and capture a smile, she would only scowl! As Chuck was changing her diaper early Saturday morning, she was full of smiles again! We're looking forward to more of those adorable smiles! It makes up for a sleepless night anytime! :)
